The USA Surf Fishing Team is proud to announce the addition of three accomplished anglers to its roster for the upcoming Pan American Surfcasting Championships, to be held in Costa Rica in September 2025.

Covering the East Coast from Montauk to Florida, each new team member brings a wealth of experience, talent, and deep commitment to the sport of surf fishing. Their combined skills will further strengthen USA’s roster as they target success on the spectacular beaches of the Caribbean.

Meet the newest members of the USA Surf Fishing Team:

Brandon Sausele – Montauk, New York
A lifelong surf fisherman born and raised on Long Island, Brandon Sausele has spent decades honing his skills along the legendary rock-bound shores of Montauk, NY. Known for wetsuiting in tough conditions in pursuit of trophy striped bass, Brandon has claimed nine local and state surfcasting titles. His competitive spirit was sparked early through Jr. Bassmaster tournaments. Today, he’s not only an outstanding angler but also a dedicated contributor to the surfcasting community through seminars, podcasts, publications, and film features. When not on the water, Brandon travels the country as a pipeline coatings specialist. Brandon is supported by Lamiglas Rods, Van Staal Reels, Phase Gear, and Turtle Cove Tackle.

Matthew Bryson – Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Originally from Franklin, North Carolina, Matt Bryson now resides in Harrisburg, PA, where he continues to pursue his lifelong passion for saltwater fishing. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Matt brings exceptional discipline, a wide range of skills and laserlike focus to every session. With extensive experience fishing up and down the East Coast, he combines technical expertise with a heartfelt connection to the sport and his country.

Christopher V. Salomoni – Martin County, Florida

Christopher Salomoni’s surfcasting career began at age seven, chasing striped bass, bluefish, and false albacore alongside his father on the sands of Montauk and Martha’s Vineyard. After relocating to Florida, his focus shifted toward southern gamefish like tarpon, sharks, jack crevalle, snook, redfish, and barracuda — all pursued from the shore with artificials, a method that remains his greatest passion and daily ritual. Chris has also traveled extensively, mastering jigging and popping techniques while targeting exotic species such as giant trevally, dogtooth tuna, coral trout, and yellowfin and bluefin tuna throughout the South Pacific, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Team President Ben Hervey-Murray commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Brandon, Matt, and Chris to the national team. Each of them brings exceptional talent, dedication, and a passion for surf fishing. I’m confident they’ll represent our country with the skill, integrity, and professionalism needed to help propel us to success at the Pan American Championships and beyond.”

Supported by Bass Pro / Cabelas, and Fishbites, the USA Surf Fishing Team is America’s official representative at international land-based saltwater fishing competitions. The current roster consists of anglers from every coastline in the USA, many of whom were part of the silver medal-winning team at the Pan American Championships in Costa Rica in 2024. USA Team VP Ryan Lambert also took individual bronze. The competition is an annual points-based catch-and-release tournament open to national teams from the Americas, with team and individual competitions.

The USA Surf Fishing Team is managed by USAngling, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the official U.S. representative to the international governing body for sport fishing. Through youth outreach, environmental stewardship, and global competition, USAngling is committed to growing the sport and inspiring the next generation of American anglers.
