United States Anglers Set to Compete in 10th FIPS-Mouche World Master Fly Fishing Championship in Spain

OVIEDO, ASTURIAS, SPAIN – A skilled team of American anglers is poised to represent the United States at the 10th FIPS-Mouche World Master Fly Fishing Championship, taking place in Asturias, Spain, from September 28th to October 4th, The championship will bring together master fly fishermen from around the globe to compete in the scenic rivers of Asturias.

The competing anglers for the United States are:

  • Christopher Smith from Black Hawk, CO
  • Sean Crocker from Holland, PA
  • Pat Weiss from Port Matilda, PA
  • Glade Gunther from Salt Lake City, UT
  • Matt Stedina from Stockbridge, VT

John Cadran from San Antonio, TX, will serve as an alternate for the team.

Each angler expressed their excitement and honor at the opportunity to represent the United States in this prestigious international competition.

The competition will feature fishing sessions on the Trubia River, Caudal River, Nalón River, and Piloña River (Villamayor and Soto de Dueñas). The valid species for the competition is Salmo Trutta (trout) with a minimum size of 20 cm.

Members of the USA Fly Fishing Masters team serve as ambassadors for the United States Angling Confederation (USAngling.org). USAngling is a 501c3 charitable organization that provides leadership for our USA fishing teams as they compete worldwide, share our love of competitive angling by engaging America’s youth, support conservation actions, and empower local community angling groups.
