USAngling Saltwater Kayak Fishing is super excited to announce our 3rd Regional Qualifier to the National Championship. Joe Hector and Extreme Kayak Fishing inc. will host the Sailfish Smackdown January 25th 2025 in Pomapano Beach Florida. The top 10 Athletes from this event will then be invited to compete in the 2025 National Championship.

The Sailfish Smackdown is the nation’s only kayak fishing billfish tournament and attracts anglers from all across the country. This prestigious human powered kayak fishing tournament is a blast as anglers compete during the peak of the sailfish run. The goal is to catch as many billfish as you can in the fastest time possible. Then the scoring shifts to the accumulative weight of the other eligible species caught such as mahi and black fin tuna.

The top 10 athletes via sailfish or accumulative weight will then be invited to compete in the National Championship to be held in August 2025 in Pompano Beach Florida at the Summer Slam 2. The top 14 athletes from Nationals will then be selected to represent Team USA at future Pan American and World Championships.
