USA Ice Fishing Team Completes Regional Qualifiers; National Championship Invitations Issued
The USA Ice Fishing Team is proud to announce the successful completion of its 2026 Regional Qualifier Series, with official invitations now extended to competitors for the upcoming National Championship.
Regional qualifiers were hosted over three consecutive weekends in:
- Olney, Montana
- Naytahwaush, Minnesota
- Cedar Springs, Michigan
Across these three events, anglers competed in nine total heats, demonstrating both competitive excellence and a strong commitment to conservation. Every angler who participated and completed competition has received an invitation to compete at Nationals.
A defining highlight of this year’s qualifiers was the continued success of the Team’s catch-and-release tournament format. Over the course of nine heats, 100% of the fish caught were successfully released. In Minnesota alone, anglers caught and released over 800 pounds of fish across three heats, further proving that competitive ice fishing and conservation can go hand in hand.
“This series once again shows that a properly managed catch-and-release ice tournament is not only possible — it works,” said team leadership. “Our anglers compete at the highest level while preserving the fisheries for future generations.”
