Joe Hector and Extreme Kayak Fishing host some of the best saltwater kayak fishing tournaments in the country. For 18 years they have been growing the sport and pushing the envelope. This year was no exception. USAngling Saltwater Kayak Fishing sanctioned the Summer Slam 2 Kayak Fishing Tournament as a Regional Qualifier for the World Championships of Saltwater Kayak Fishing in Valencia, Spain this October.

If you’ve never been to an Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournament, these events are a full experience, with some of the biggest cash payouts in the nation and an all-out beach festival for the entire community to enjoy.

The event is held in beautiful Pompano Beach, Florida and offers a fun experience for the whole family. We are very proud to be working with Joe and Extreme Kayak Fishing as a Regional Director and USAngling Qualifier.

The 2024 Summer Slam 2 did not disappoint. Some of Florida’s best kayak anglers came out to represent alongside competitors from five other states. Anglers were excited for the chance to qualify for the World Championship. Only one angler would win the coveted spot on Team USA, and the honor went to Mikey Molnar from Vero Beach Florida. Congratulations Mikey!

Mikey’s achievement were outstanding considering the strong south current and less-than-ideal conditions. On top of that, Molnar accidentally left his fish finder at home. That alone would have discouraged most competitive anglers, but not Mikey. Using land marks and previous locations, an undeterred Molnar made the best of it, catching four solid kingfish on live goggle eyes and taking 1st place. His efforts landed him $3,000 dollars and a position on Team USAngling Saltwater Kayak Fishing.

After speaking with Mikey, it was clear that he would be unable to attend the World Championship in Spain due to prior commitments. Here at USAngling we want to do our best to honor our athletes and award them for their hard work. Collectively we have decided to give Mikey a position on the 2025 Pan American Team heading to La Paz, Mexico in March. Congratulations again Mikey, and welcome to Team USA… where we fish for Gold!
