Mike McNett has served as Freshwater Sport Director since the founding of USAngling in 2015 and is a co-founder and longstanding member of the Board of Directors. He played a central role in unifying sea fishing, freshwater fishing, and fly fishing under a single national sport federation structure.

Professionally, Mike is President and Owner of West Suburban Insurance Agency and has been self-employed since 1985, founding and operating multiple businesses. His experience spans strategic planning, operations, financial management, and organizational leadership, skills that directly support USAngling’s governance and long-term development.

Within international sport fishing, Mike has participated in more than 18 World Championship, Pan American, and Tri-Nations competitions as an athlete, coach, captain, delegate, and tournament director. He is the founder of the USA Ice Fishing Team, co-founder of the North American Ice Fishing Circuit, and a member of the CIPS-FIPSed Technical Steering Committee, helping expand global participation in freshwater sport fishing.

Outside of competition and governance, Mike values time outdoors with family and friends and views fishing as both a lifelong discipline and a source of personal balance.
