Julie Mattson serves as Secretary of the USA Fly Fishing Women’s Team, providing leadership and organizational support while bringing decades of competitive experience and mentorship to the program. A lifelong angler, she began fly fishing at age ten in Montana and has spent over 25 years guiding and teaching the sport across the United States, from Alaska to Oklahoma.

Mattson earned her place on the U.S. Women’s National Team with a silver medal at the inaugural 2022 USA Women’s Fly Fishing Nationals. She has represented the United States at multiple World Championships, contributing to team bronze in Canada (2023), top-four finishes in the Czech Republic (2024), and helping lead the U.S. team to gold at the 2025 World Championship in Idaho.

Outside of competition, Mattson owns and operates On The Rivers Fly Fishing Company and volunteers with Reel Girls, Casting for Recovery, Healing Waters, and other organizations, fostering community, mentorship, and stewardship of the sport.
