ELSA FLORES
USA Kayak Fishing Saltwater | Athlete
Elsa was born in Sonora, Mexico and raised in
southern California. Her father was a pangero fisherman in Bahia De Los Lobos.
Growing up, she spent her summers and winter breaks with him, where she
developed her love for the ocean and its mysteries. Her best childhood
memories were with her father out at sea. Her love for the sea didn’t stay in
Mexico. She grew up in Lawndale, five miles away from Manhattan beach, where
she surf fished, and as soon as she convinced her mom to let her jump on a sport
boat at the age of thirteen, she did! She still loves fishing with folks on
sport boats. Her first job was at a fishing tackle store. She would always try
to figure out a way to be around the fishing community, and still does! Five
years ago, she overheard her buddy Jose talking about this group that loves to
cook, camp, and fish on a kayak. When she heard he was going up to fish with
them, Elsa asked if she could tag along. It was an amazing weekend! Fresh
N Salty folk could not have been more loving. She was hooked! She started
driving up north a couple times a month, trying to meet more folks to learn as
much as she could about the sport. Not too much time passed, and her curiosity
grew wondering where the best places to kayak fish and a google search led her to
Los Buzos. She found herself there within a year and had an epic fishing
adventure with Robert Field and Adam Fisk. Many fishing adventures later, she
is pleased and honored to be a part of the USAngling fishing team!
