American Athletes Reset International Surf Casting Records
Tandil, Argentina – Upon the conclusion of the 2025 FIPS-Mer Long Distance Casting World Championship, new all-time casting records have been announced by FIPS-Mer, and now include two Americans in the rankings.
The Casting World Championship has been the premier international surf casting tournament for more than 20 years. FIPS-Mer keeps a tally of the top five all-time casters for each sinker weight used in the annual event: 100 gram, 125 gram, 150 gram, and 175 gram.
USA Surf Casting Team Captain Ryan Lambert earned the “#3” spot in the 100 gram sinker category. He cast 260.2 meters, compared to the “#1” 100 gram caster Salvador Bustos of Argentina, who sent the weight 269.68 meters in 2019.
Conner Brown of USA Surf Casting took his place among the world’s best 175 gram sinker casters. His 260.16 meter cast place him at “#5” internationally for that sinker weight class. The “#1” spot has belonged to Belgian Danny Moeskops since his 2006 distance of 268.87 meters.
