MARCH 21, 2024State College, PA:  USAngling announced today that they have formally appointed a USA Street Fishing Program Director. Lee Young, formerly a Program Manager and Captain with the USA Carp Fishing Team from 2010 to 2019, has been selected to direct the USAngling Street Fishing Program.

Mike McNett, USAngling’s Freshwater Programs Director commented, “Lee brings outstanding, internationally focused technical and leadership experience to the new USA Street Fishing Program. He has previously founded, managed, coached, mentored, and transferred the leadership of a successful USA Carp Team starting with their very first World Championships (Italy 2014), through to their current respected standing as they competed in Hungary this year. Throughout, he’s shown his skills in developing a group of anglers into a Team within a new Discipline, how to address weaknesses, and has provided great focus on the fundamentals required to successfully field an effective, cohesive Team at the Street Fishing World Championships.”

Lee has also previously supported other Freshwater Disciplines, notably Captaining the USA Match Fishing Team in Italy 2011, and as an Official at two USAngling hosted Ice Fishing World Championships. Lee has committed to developing US-based Adult & Youth Street Fishing talent, to continuously grow the team and to compete and succeed against the best competitive Street Fishing teams in the world.

Lee commented, “I am honored to be selected by USAngling to lead the Street Fishing Program, and pledge to develop a Team USA Street Fishing Squad that can effectively compete at every Street Fishing World Championships, whatever the challenges and wherever the venue. I am delighted to be given the chance to develop new Street Fishing Angling and Coaching talent and provide leadership and support to Team USA Street Fishing Team’s Officials, Coaches, and Anglers, based around the core values of every successful USAngling Discipline; Teamwork + Shared Experience + Effective Preparation = Success.”

USAngling President, Tony Forte says “We are excited about developing this new Street Fishing Discipline. It has tremendous potential to serve urban anglers.  This can allow for tremendous diversity in our competitive angling pool.  We are looking forward to success in competition and in helping Lee with Youth Street Fishing development. Lastly, we aim to develop and conserve our potential Street Fishing locations and identify ways to elevate the sport of Street Fishing in the USA. Lee is up to the challenge, and we look forward to supporting him as he grows the Street Fishing Team and develops the skills and abilities of US Anglers to effectively compete against the World’s Best Street Anglers.”
