HOT SPRINGS, Ark., October 2, 2026 — The USA Bass Team leads the country standings after the opening day of the Black Bass World Championship on Lake Hamilton, with all three American pairs occupying the top three positions. Anglers representing 23 nations began the three-day competition October 1, with gold medals on the line.

Scott Martin and Dakota Ebare lead the pairs standings with 20.1 lbs,  anchored by a 5.4-pound bass. Ott DeFoe and Drew Gill sit in second with 16.4 lbs, followed closely by Kevin VanDam and Dustin Connell in third with 16.2 lbs

The strong opening performance puts the United States atop the country standings, but two competition days remain for an international field filled with accomplished anglers.

Mexico’s Miguel Ernesto Burberg Mora and Conrad Burberg Aleman hold big bass honors after Day 1 with a 7.9 lbs catch.

While competition unfolded on Lake Hamilton, the Oaklawn Outdoor Show welcomed visitors to the Hot Springs Convention Center for a successful opening day. Steady foot traffic, exhibitors from around the world and activities for families brought the excitement of championship week beyond the water.

The show runs October 1–3, featuring exhibitor booths, huge giveaways, hands-on youth experiences, opportunities to meet PAW Patrol characters and activities for the whole family.

Fans can also bid on autographed USA Bass memorabilia through the online auction for a chance to take home a piece of USA Bass history. Auction details and links are available through USA Bass social media channels.

Day 3 will culminate October 3, with a concert by The Frontmen, live weigh-in at Bank OZK Arena, and a Ranger 519 boat giveaway. The Frontmen features Richie McDonald (formerly of Lonestar), Larry Stewart (of Restless Heart), and Tim Rushlow (formerly of Little Texas). Fans can register to win the Ranger 519 at the Ranger booth during the Oaklawn Outdoor Show.
