Lakeview, MI – USA Ice Fishing, the official U.S. representative in the World Ice Fishing Championship, is proud to announce a new partnership with the Village of Lakeview, Michigan. Beginning in 2026, Lakeview will serve as the permanent home of the USA Ice Fishing National Championship.

The decision comes after the tremendous success of the 2024 World Ice Fishing Championship, which Lakeview proudly hosted. The event brought athletes and visitors from around the world to the village, and the overwhelming support from the community left a lasting impression on both the competitors and organizers.

“Lakeview welcomed us with open arms during the World Championship, and we knew right away that this was a special place,” said Joe Martinez, President of USA Ice Fishing. “We are thrilled to bring our National Championship here every year and to grow alongside this community.”

The 2026 USA Ice Fishing National Championship will be held February 19–22, 2026 on Lakeview’s waters. The schedule includes:

• Thursday & Friday: Two competition heats each day.
• Saturday: A community-focused day featuring a kids’ ice fishing seminar, a mini youth competition, and the official banquet.
• Sunday: Final competition heat followed by the Awards Ceremony at McKenna’s.

In preparation for the announcement, Martinez and Vice President Thane Melton recently met with Lakeview Mayor, city board members, and the city planner to finalize details and build out the long-term partnership.

“Our goal is not only to host an elite fishing event, but also to become part of the Lakeview community,” said Melton. “From youth education to family activities, this championship will be about more than competition – it will be a celebration of ice fishing for everyone.”

The National Championship is open to all current members of Team USA, who receive automatic entry. Additional competitors will qualify through regional tournaments in Montana, Minnesota, and Michigan, with dates to be announced soon.
