Team USA Dominates World Youth Fly Fishing Championship

Team USA celebrates their first-place finish and individual accomplishments.

Team USA has claimed gold medal honors at the 22nd FIPS-Mouche World Youth Fly Fishing Championship, delivering a commanding performance over the course of the 5-day international competition. Held in the region considered to be the Golden Triangle of Fly Fishing, 47 anglers from 8 countries battled grueling venues and fished waters in Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. Team USA maintained the lead every day of the championship, ending with a record-breaking 38-point lead over second place Poland and a 43-point lead over third place South Africa.

Team USA’s gold-medal-winning roster included: 

  • Lawson Braun (Waynesville, NC) – Team Captain, Individual Gold Medalist
  • Max Logan (Boulder, CO)
  • Justin Hardie (Mercer, PA)
  • Blake Hall (Marion, VA) – Individual Bronze Medalist
  • Landon Cook (Marion Center, PA)
  • Ethan Campbell (Park City, UT)


The team was led by an experienced and dedicated support staff:

In addition to the team’s overall first-place finish, Team Captain Lawson Braun of North Carolina earned individual Gold, and teammate Blake Hall of Virginia took home the individual Bronze. 5 of the Top 7 individual spots belonged to Team USA (Max Logan 4th, Justin Hardie 6th, and Landon Cook 7th), solidifying the team’s dominance both as a team and individually. 

“This team showed an extraordinary level of preparation, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the week,” said Head Coach Josh Miller. “They’ve made the country proud, and this gold is the result of tireless effort and elite performance at every level.”

Team USA claimed Gold in the 2023 World Youth Fly Fishing Championship held in Bosnia and again in the 2024 World Youth Fly Fishing Championship held in the Czech Republic. This year’s victory marks a significant achievement in international fly fishing and underscores the depth of talent in competitive angling across the United States.

The US Youth Fly Fishing Team is a 501c3 Non-Profit dedicated to the development of a distinguished and skilled fly-fishing team that proudly represents the United States in FIPS-Mouche sanctioned international championships each year.
