Firefighter, World Traveler, and Passionate Angler

Zak Miller grew up in the deserts of Arizona before moving to Colorado in 2010 to pursue a career as a firefighter. Now serving as a Lieutenant in the fire service, Zak balances a demanding career with his lifelong passion: fishing.

His love for the water began at a young age, fishing alongside his father, who taught him everything he knows. One of their shared dreams was to one day chase monster billfish offshore. Although life circumstances prevented them from making that dream a reality together, Zak eventually honored his father’s legacy by traveling to Costa Rica, where he caught what he still considers one of the most beautiful sailfish of his life.

Since then, fishing has become more than a hobby — it’s a source of peace, purpose, and adventure. Zak has made it his mission to explore the world’s top fishing destinations and to connect with the best charter operations in the industry. Over the past three years alone, he’s fished with more than 50 different charters across premier locations including Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, Hawaii, Florida, the Outer Banks, Cabo San Lucas, El Salvador, Panama, and California.

Today, Zak is passionate about sharing his journey with others — celebrating the community, conservation, and thrill that sportfishing brings. Whether through storytelling, podcasting, or future collaborations, he hopes to inspire others to discover the same sense of wonder and connection that fishing has brought to his life.
