Terra Groah grew up in Northern California spin fishing on the coasts, rivers, and lakes of California and Oregon. She began fly fishing in 2013 when she moved to Boulder, Colorado, and has been in the area ever since. As soon as she held the first trout she ever caught on the fly (a size 14 blue poison tung, to be exact), she knew that’s what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. As an upland game hunter, she had plenty of materials to begin tying around the same time.

Terra began guiding both rivers and stillwater, and recently started her own business under the moniker The Parachute Madam. She currently guides on stillwater, where she teaches anglers how to find, fight, and land ~10lb trout. She loves seeing her anglers land the fish of a lifetime and the self-confidence it inspires. She has a particular focus on fly fishing as a way to reclaim a sense of self for those in recovery. When not guiding, she can be found volunteering to teach classes for the Colorado Women Flyfishers.

Terra enjoys traveling to odd corners of the country to chase other species on the fly like muskie, gar, catfish, steelhead and bass. She began her career in competitive angling in 2023 and earned a spot on Fly Fishing Team USA in 2024. She loves learning from individual members of the team and gaining bits of wisdom from them.
