Paul has been passionate about fishing for as long as he can remember. Growing up in South Africa, he spent countless hours on the water, developing a lifelong love for the sport that would eventually take him from freshwater fisheries to the open ocean.

After moving to Durban with his wife, Hayley, Paul was introduced to the challenge of offshore kayak fishing along South Africa’s Indian Ocean coastline. Fishing from his Stealth Pro Fisha kayak, he pursued some of the region’s most exciting gamefish, including yellowfin tuna, wahoo, sailfish, and king mackerel. The combination of big fish, blue water, and self-powered adventure quickly became an obsession.

In 2022, Paul and his family relocated to Florida, where he immersed himself in the state’s competitive saltwater kayak fishing scene. Although fishing has never been his profession, he approaches it with the dedication and commitment of a serious athlete. His hard work and consistency paid off when he earned a National Championship title in 2025, securing his place on Team USA.

Away from competition, Paul is the owner of Florida Reel Service, specializing in the maintenance and servicing of high-end fishing reels. Whether he’s preparing tackle, competing in tournaments, or exploring new waters with family and friends, his passion for fishing continues to drive him. Representing Team USA is a proud achievement and another memorable chapter in a lifelong passion for fishing.
