Kim lives in Portland, Oregon, with her teenage boy/girl twins and their faithful dog, Birdie. Originally from Northern California, Kim grew up fishing for trout in the Sierras and chasing bass in lakes and reservoirs throughout Northern California. After moving to Oregon 21 years ago, her passion for fly fishing continued to grow.

Once Kim settled in Oregon, she discovered the joy of fly-fishing lakes for trout — and she’s never looked back. Lakes quickly became her true passion and her favorite way to spend the summers. With over 25 years of fly-fishing experience, Kim feels honored to be on the team and looks forward to competing on lakes.

Kim’s love for fishing has taken her all over the world, with adventures in the UK, Scotland, Mexico, the Philippines, Alaska, Canada, and Patagonia. About a year and a half ago, Kim decided to challenge herself even further and pursue a spot on the U.S. Women’s Fly-Fishing Team. That determination earned her a ticket to the Women’s Nationals in Idaho in the summer of 2024. Competitive fly fishing comes with a steep learning curve, but Kim has embraced it, trying to constantly expand her skills.

Giving back to the fly-fishing community is also important to Kim. She volunteers with Casting for Recovery in two regions of Oregon and supports conservation efforts through Western Rivers Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, and Water Watch — combining her passion for fishing with her dedication to protecting natural resources.

Kim loves chasing all kinds of fish in all kinds of water. When she’s not fishing, you’ll find her traveling, rockhounding, woodworking, gardening, and doing everything baseball with her son.
