Katie Mazzia lives in Colorado and is a dedicated fly angler and proud member of the U.S. Women’s Fly Fishing Team. Katie credits her new achievement to the amazing women on the team, from whom she continues to learn and grow.

Her journey into the sport was sparked by her son, Jack Arnot who is also a U.S. National and World Team Fly Fishing Angler. Katie grew up spin fishing with her dad although her son introduced her to fly fishing, making them one of the first mother-son duos to represent the U.S. on national teams. She caught her first trout fly fishing, stripping a black leech! Then, the rest was history and she was hooked.

 By day, Katie is a clinical dietitian, but in her free time, she immerses herself in the outdoors, enjoying trail running, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and year-round fishing. Since 2016, Katie has competed in many “FLYATHLON” events and several “TROUTWOMAN” challenges: running, fly fishing and fundraising events which combine her athleticism and passion for the sport.

 Katie is deeply committed to conservation and serves as a board member for Running Rivers, a Colorado-based nonprofit focused on preserving native fish and waterways. This organization also hosts the events above!

Katie hopes her love for fly fishing, commitment to conservation, and passion for inspiring others to embrace the sport will lead to future growth and development in the world of women’s fly fishing.
