JULIE MATTSON
USA Fly Fishing Women’s Team | Angler
A member of the Women’s National & Worlds Fly Fishing Team since 2022. Her journey into the world of fly fishing began in Montana at the age of ten, which sparked a lifelong passion that has taken her across the country from Alaska to Montana, and presently Oklahoma. She has been on the water guiding and teaching fly fishing 25 + years.
Julie participated in 2022 at inaugural USA Women’s Fly Fishing Nationals in Colorado, receiving silver Medal with here Team and securing her spot on the National Team. She then proudly represented her country at the first Women’s Worlds Competition in Norway as a reserve. In 2023, Julie’s secure a position as 1 of the 5 competitors and went on to helped the team bring home the Bronze Medal at the 2nd Worlds Championship in Canada 2023.
Julie represented the country at the World Championship in the Czech Republic in May 2024, placing 4th as a Team.
2024 Nationals Teammates and Julie placed a silver medal and she secure a spot on Worlds Team to compete in 2025 Worlds being held in Idaho July 2025.
Beyond her competitive pursuits, Julie is the owner and operator of On The Rivers Fly Fishing Company, located in Southeast Oklahoma along the Lower Mountain Fork River. During the summer months, she guides in Southeast Alaska and Manages Fly Fishing for Yes Bay Lodge.
