BRUCE WORTHAM

USA BIG GAME FISHING TEAM  |  TEXAS

My first experience with saltwater fishing actually began as a child fishing with my grandfather around Corpus Christi, Galveston, and Freeport Texas.  However, it got real in 2007 when I got to fish on the charters out of Costa Rica.  To say I was hooked is an understatement; saltwater fishing has turned into an adventure like no other.  The first qualifier was in 2012 in Panama, where my teammates and I won the billfish tournament at Tropic Star. I continued to attend qualifying tournaments with my teammates over the years, which allowed us the opportunity to fish in 7 world championships in Costa Rica.  We placed 10th in 2023 at the World Championship in Costa Rica and tied for 3rd in the world championship in Costa Rica in 2025.  I have had the opportunity to fish in Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, and Mexico.  Each of these events has been very educational, allowing the opportunity to learn new techniques. In 2024, my teammates and I won a silver team medal in the billfish tournament in Panama.  Again, in 2025, my teammate and I won a nation silver medal in the Pan American Rooster fish tournament in Panama. While saltwater fishing is my passion, I also spend a lot of time bass fishing in our local bass club tournaments. It has been an honor to fish in the US Pan American tournaments.
